The Pick Up Line....

Every day I pick up the triplets at preschool and usually use the carpool lane. Well...getting 3 kids quickly buckeled into carseats while cars wait behind me stresses me out so I have been parking and going in to get them. It is really cute because when I come in they are waiting on a bench for me all bundled up and they yell "Mommy" and tackle me. I'm guessing that someday they aren't going to be quite so excited to see me show up at school! Look at Lake's enthusiasm already...(really that's because of his hatred of cameras and picture taking~)

The party and LOTS of kids...

The party was a huge success and somehow we survived 18 kids in our house all at one time! It was questionable for a short while but we did tame them and all had a great time. We had a Spongebob theme and all the kids really thought that was cool. We did a Spongebob beanbag toss, a Jellyfish catching (pink ballons with butterfly nets), fishing for fish (we caught paper fish with magnet fishing poles,) pin the nose on Squidward, and a Spongebob video game tournament along with several craft activites. They kids made sandart, decorated foam visors, and did scratch art. If you won a game you got to crawl into the Sharks mouth (a shark tent) to go into the treasure chest to pick a prize. Everything in the shark had a Spongebob theme....They loved it.... Here are some pictures from the day.

Happy 6th birthday Logan!!

I don't know where 6 years have gone! Well...most days I do know...the endless chasing after, cleaning up after and enjoying 4 little boys! Here are a few pictures of Logan's first 4 years...I'll try to add more as I find them. He has had a great day...he went to school and came home to an ice cream cake and presents. He got several phone calls wishing him a happy birthay and at school he got a special birthday pencil, a crwon to wear and a star badge that says "i'm 6".... He is so excited for his party on Saturday with his school friends. We have 17 kids to entertain so it should be interesting!

Our pool party.....!!??

As you know the "big" party is on Saturday. Logan is practically floating on air and the list of people attending is growing. Today the phone rang and I answered it and a lady identifies herself as the mother of a kid in Logan's class. She tells me that her son has a cough and the sniffles so he won't be able to come to the party on Saturday. "Ok"...(thinking well today is only Tuesday but whatever....) I said and then she continued that she didn't think getting in and out of the pool would be good for his cold! What?! I said our party isn't in a pool!! I guess we had a cultural misinterpretation (the mother spoke with an accent) of what type of party this is going to be. Apparently Spongebob is not a show in her native country or I'm not as clever as I thought! "But the invitaion said..." I gently told her that I don't take my own 4 kids in a pool and I certainly don't want to take more than half of the kindergarten class into one! What do YOU think the invitation is saying..? It will be interesting to see if the poor kid gets to come!

What more do I need to say.....?

Logan was upstairs and the rest of the boys came downstairs and I got curious and called for him....here is how he came down.....What a clown!! This kid has such a sense of humor that is hard to describe. He is so shy in public and quiet at school but at home he is a ham!

My little gourmet eaters....

There has been a big sale on Sara Lee Whole Grain Soft and Smooth Bread, Hillshire Turkey Breast, Hillshire Ham and a few other products this week so my refrigerator is overflowing with the makings of a deli! Typically the boys will not touch white bread and only Landon and Lawson will eat sandwiches with shaved meat. Lake will eat saltine crackers with turkey breast and "white ketchup" (that is Lake-speak for Ranch dressing or miracle whip!) Logan is purely a Peanut Butter (sunflower nutbutter actually since he is allergic to nuts) and jelly sandwich guy and the bread MUST be honeywheat with seeds only sold at Jewel. Today at lunch time Lawson requested a sandwich made to his specifications as usual...Turkey with that white stuff on the new white bread. Ok... Landon just wanted bread (the white bread also!!) Then comes Lake!! "Momma...I want bread with turkey and no white ketchup and I want cheese and salad on it too!" I didn't really think that he knew what he was talking about but this kid stood there and watched and directed me making his sandwich! He actually ate a Turkey sandwich with a slice of cheese and lettuce!! I dont' know where he learned about the "salad" on his sandwich because I've never made that here before and noone has ever wanted cheese on a sandwich beyond a cheeseburger or a grilled cheese. I'm guessing that he learned about it at school....what an education he is getting! These kids never cease to amaze me. I hope that they still like these choices again tomorrow because it looks like we could have another snow day with another 12 inches expected and I won't be going to the store!

Lake and his "story!"

I went to visit Lake's class and as I looked around the room I ran across a picture of Lake and a "story" that he wrote about his family. I'm not sure where Lake has been living because the story that he dictated to his teacher isn't quite the same life that we are living. There are some facts that he got correct but others...not so much! He is 4, he does have brothers but we do NOT have a dog and then of course since we don't have a dog his name is NOT Mac! The only thing that I can think of is that he likes to watch Clifford the Big Red Dog and the Hilbrant's have a dog named Max?! Oh....and I guess Lake may be wanting a dog!! I wonder if I should be worried.....?!

The Book/Art Project & The Important Bag

Every day Logan looks forward to going to the library at school and choosing a book to bring home. Usually it is a very detailed scientific book about fish, bugs, or dinosaurs. Definately not light reading. He likes to tell me each day as he gets in the car whether he brought home a fiction or non-fiction book. I can't believe that he even knows what that is. When we read each night he makes sure to ask who the illustrator and author is too! Last week one of the books he chose was about bugs but with a twist. Each left side page told about a bug and then the opposing page had a craft/art project to coordinate with it. As you can imagine he wanted to start a project right away. I somehow managed to put him off for a day but Sunday he was ready to go...We went through each page and finally chose a project. I went and bought the supplies and we created a bug race board game. Above is a picture of Logan doing the painting. It really is a cute game even though it took a good part of the day on Sunday. The most satisfying thing about it though was it was Logan's turn to take the "Important Bag" to school and that is what he chose to take. He had to give 3 hints so the other kids could guess what was in the bag. He came up with them all by himself and they were quite good. 1. It is fun. 2. It starts with a g. 3. It's colorful. Then he had to explain why the game was important and he said "Because my mom and I made it together!" He is such a sweet boy!

The countdown sham...

I am getting ready to go to bed but remember that Logan's paper chain for his birthday countdown is about 6 links too short. I've been meaning to add them on ever since we made it but had hoped I could just cut the links when he was sleeping and add them on slowly. Well...no....tonight I finally got around to cutting the needed links and when I went to add them I noticed that he has numbered the links!!!! Uh oh...I'm going to have some explaining to do....he is convinced that it is only 8 days until the big day!!

A Snow Day....

We got around 12 inches of snow last night so school was cancelled. Some moms complain about a snow day and I am typically no different except for today it fell on a Friday. The little boys don't have preschool on Friday so I have to drag them along to take Logan to kindergarten and that means 4 coats, 8 boots, 8 mittens, and 4 hats to put on along with 4 carseats to fasten. Then after only 2 1/2 hours I get to reload the triplets again to pick Logan up. Then we get home and the coats are dropped where they stand and the floor gets coated with dirty slush when they take their boots off...Not fun...and I can't do errands anyway so it is more convenient if we just stay home. Logan took the news better than expected and was fine until around 1 pm he started running around saying that we were going to be late! I reminded him there was no school and he went back to playing. Late afternoon I heard the boys yelling for me from the living room and I went in to see what was going on. The snowplows from the neighborhood had all converged right in front of our house. It was pretty exciting for the boys to have these huge machines parked right in front of the house. They got a great view and oohed and awed the whole time they were there! This will be one snow day that will be talked about for a long time!!
