Go Hawkeyes!

Every since Logan was born and then the little boys Steve has been grooming them to be sports fans. More specifically Iowa Hawkeye Sports Fans. He has succeeded into the Hawkeye fan part but as far as the other goes...not so much. Landon is the exception though and loves basketball. He says he wants to be a basketball player when he grows up. Pretty big dream considering his miniscule size. Today he and Steve went to see Iowa play at Northwestern. Landon says his favorite part was the m&m's and Coke! Go Hawkeyes!!

Playdates

Since we have 4 kids I typically think that we don't need playdates. I kind of figure that since my kids are roughly the same age they can play with each other and I can get some stuff done. Yesterday was the exception. We needed some computer work done so my friend Dina sent her computer expert husband over. I told her to bring her son since he and Landon are in the same class at school and are friends. I have never seen the boys have so much fun! They played Wii for 2 hours. The funny part was when Carter went home he told his mom that "They have the coolest stuff...when can I go back?!" Ironically they never looked at, picked up, or talked about any other thing that the Star Wars Wii game which he already has at home. It had to be the boy factor....Hey Dina...maybe you need to add to your brood?!

Day Off Number 1

When the boys have a day off from school and Steve happens to take a day off he likes to fill the day up. I prefer hanging out at home and just enjoy not having to supervise dressing, pack, load up, unload, reload 4 small boys. But since he was home we went downtown. We spent the day at The Field Museum and had a full day. Here are some shots. The boys loved it and another trip is planned again very soon!

Logan's catch-up birthday!

I forgot to blog about Logan's 7th birthday party. We invited all the boys in his 1st grade class plus our 3 little interlopers and had a Ben 10 bash! We played Comet Toss Space Game, Ben 10 Wii, made alien face masks and did Shrinky Dink Art (I didn't know until recently that they still made this stuff!! The kids loved it!) We had alien space punch and of course Ben 10 cake! I was really hoping to have this at another location this year but Logan insisted he wanted it at home so we invited the bare minium for comfort and partied on! Here are a couple of photos...I forgot to take pictures this year but I think he will live!

Rock O'Bama and George Washington

I am amazed by the things my kids learn at school. They seem way ahead of what I was learning in small Iowa schools back in the day. The other night the boys had all gone to bed except for Landon who decided to watch the Presidential address with me in my bed. The man announced "THE PRESIDENT of THE UNITED STATES" and Landon turned to me and said "Where is George Washington?" I explained that George is dead and won't be attending and now Barack Obama is president. He said "Oh..Rock O'Bama? I said "Yep!" He then sat back and watched. Well...not bad for a kid who is 5. We went out for lunch on Sunday and celebrated George's birthday so I guess he wasn't too far off!

Things I love...by Landon Williams

1. Mom
2. dad
3. teacher
4. pets
5. brother

A few notes about Landon's work. Did you notice that "Mom" is captitalized and dad isn't ? Did you also notice that the teacher comes before the brother? Also pets come before brother and we don't have any?! Lastly "brother" means what? He has 3 brothers but said "brother?" Hmmmmm.....

Logan...my own Picasso!!

We recently signed Logan up for an art class. He resisted at first because in his words "I already know how to draw!" We made him go and of course he loves it. I think that he is showing real talent. These pictures are cartooning of a cat's emotions... (I know...I'm biased...I'm his mom!) You be the judge...Here is some of his work...

Who needs Guitar Hero when you have Wii Boxes?

The boys love, love, love the Superbowl. Why they like it may surprise you though. Is it the sport of football? Is it the food? Maybe the commercials? Nope...it's the half time show. Last year they got hooked with the halftime show with Prince and this year they love Bruce Springsteen! Here they are rockin' out complete with their box instruments. I guess it is time to make Steve unpack the Wii Rockband that he got for Christmas. It looks kind of pathetic to make the kids pretend wtih cardboard boxes!

Something to make you say "hmmmm"

Logan just came into my office with a can of Pringles potato chips. He asked me what a seal is. I I looked at what he was talking about and he pointed to the lid where it said flavor seal. I explained that it meant the lid to keep the taste fresh. He then proceeded to lick the paper lid and said...it doesn't taste like anything!! He did it all so fast before I could stop him from licking it but it WAS funny! He pointed again to the FLAVOR SEAL labeling. I guess that is what you get when you have a reader!

Words of Wisdom from Logan

This is what I was just asked....?!

Logan: "Mom did you know that fleas mainly live in the woods?"

Me: "Really?"

Logan: "Yea...so you really don't have to worry about them getting you!"

Hmmmm....I didn't realise that I had been losing sleep over fleas...

**Disclaimer: We have never had nor thought we had fleas in our house.

Should I be Worried?!

Whenever I hear a door close when one of the boys go into a bathroom I get a little concerned. It usually means a clogged up toilet from stuffing rolls of toilet paper in the toilet or they are taking something in there they don't want me to see. Nothing good ever comes from them closing a door and since none of the boys are known for their modesty when it comes to the bathroom this is a bad thing. I won't bore you with the details of the things I've seen. Let's just say that I feel like I live in my own personal version of Animal House. The other day I heard the door...went to investigate and found the above. Landon had been trying on my make-up. I guess I can take solace in the fact that he didn't do a good job with it AND my toilets aren't clogged!
